Ceremony held to mark the closing of D-License course for DSC

A ceremony was held in FAM last night to mark the closing of a successful D-License coaching course held for DSC.

A total of 28 coaches from DSC took part in this coaching course, which is one of the many courses held in one of the most active time period for FAM in a long time. The course was conducted by Maldives National team assistant coach Ahmed Shakir (Shakittey). He led a three men instructor team and the experienced coach from Early Touch Football Academy Fernando and Foakaidhoo Football Team’s Ali Nisthar Mohamed will be working alongside Shakir.

Dhivehi Sifainge Club (DSC) is currently a second division side and also has their own inter-department tournaments. Some coaches who took part in the course are already coaches of the inter-department teams. The course covered the basic aspect of football with both theory and practical sessions. According to FAM official, next year on wards D-License will be pre-requisite for the C-Certificate course.

Speaking at the ceremony the special guest from MNDF highlighted the importance of soldiers taking part in such courses and being active in all sports. He also stated that it’s a dream to see an MNDF personnel playing for the national team and thanked the FAM for their support in carrying out such courses. Participants said that the course is going to be very useful and that they aim to do higher levels of coaching courses in the coming years and hopefully also manage a great team. Meanwhile, the instructors said that they hope coaches produced from such courses will take part in bringing back the love for football in Maldivian hearts.

This is one of the many coaching courses held by FAM this year and currently a D-License coaching course is ongoing in M.Dhiggaru. The 3-4 day course has 15 licensed instructors and can be requested from FAM by schools, clubs, councils, etc.
