Eagles make it a big win in tonight’s group B game against United Victory.

Eagles came into the match after a 3-1 thumping of Eydhafushi meanwhile United came after winning the Maziya game against all odds. Both teams needed a win as all group B teams had 3 points in their bag before the game started. Eagles started strong as Hassan Raif Ahmed scored in the first minute, making it the quickest goal of this year’s tournament. Twelve minutes later the same player doubled their lead putting the game under their control. Four minutes past the scoring of the second goal, a third goal came in favour of Eagles as Mohamed Azumoon netted the ball. The first half went on to end in that score line of 3-0 in Eagles’ favour.

After what seemed like a poor start to the game Ilham’s United team set out to the second half in hopes of catching up with the Eagles. However, 6 minutes into the second half, Hassan Raif Ahmed completed his hat-trick and 3 minutes later Azumoon scored his second of the game. It seemed as if the game had already ended by then, although United held on to end the game without conceding anymore goals with Hassan Raif Ahmed winning the man of the match award.

Group B is now led by Eagles with 6 points, followed by Green Streets, United Victory, Maziya and Eydhafushi each with 3 points.

Sunday night will feature a much awaited game of group A, Victory against Foakaidhoo, which will decide the fate of Da Grande and Victory.
