Eagles are crowned Youth Champions for the fourth time!!

Eagles clinches the Youth Championship title in tonight’s final.

Tonight’s youth championship final saw one of the most intense games played in a youth final. Eagles came into the game on the back of a 100% record meanwhile TC came into it unbeaten (1 draw and 3 wins) and with their first choice goalkeeper Hassan Aleef Ibrahim suspended due to the red card he was given in the semi-final against Green Streets. The match kicked off at 2030hrs at the National Stadium and both teams played great football with high intensity. Eagles star Mohamed Azumoon scored the only goal of the night at the 33rd minute after Hassan Raif Ahmed headed the ball from the corner towards him. The game went on to end in the same scoreline.

Eagles has now won the tournament for the fourth time (2014, 2016, 2017, 2019). This is the 4th consecutive year they are playing in the youth final. Tonight’s final win against TC meant history is written all over again as both teams met in the final of the 2016 edition of the tournament which Eagles won 5-3. Last year’s final saw Eagles lose to Green Streets on penalties putting an end to their hopes of making a hat-trick of championship titles in the tournament.

The tournament’s closing ceremony saw the awards being given to their respective winners. This included the fairplay team award of the tournament which Victory Sports Club won and also the best 4 player awards which included the best goalkeeper award as well. The best 3 players award was won by Hassan Raif Ahmed of Eagles, who also scored most goals in this tournament, Abdulla Yaameen of Green Streets and Shaifulla Ibrahim of Eagles. Maahy Abdulla of Victory sports club won the award for the best goalkeeper.

This tournament of youth will be followed by the fiesta of inter-school football championships. The tournaments which always brings hype to the youth football is expected to be another grand one this year.
