Football Association of Maldives organizes Grassroots Festival in Addu City today.

Two hundred and ninety two players participated in the massive event, first of it's kind in Addu. players were divided in three age groups. Nine year olds, ten year olds and eleven year old players. Nineteen coaches worked in this project. 

FIFA Grassroots festivals is organized in such a way that all the players are working. The field is divided into mini-fields. Players are divided in teams that rotate and play against each other. Some teams play matches while the other teams do drills. This is the FIFA recommended way in which all the participants go home winners. 

There are around 30 grassroots coaches in Addu at the moment. Ahmed Azmi, FAM officer in-charge of the event said that there will be more festivals including one in Meedhoo. 

Talking to BoalhaMV, Azmi said that FAM-Addu is set for the Inter-School Football tournament to kick off in April. Seven schools will participate in two divisions, under 14 division and under 16 division.
