Inter School: Ghaazee and Ghiyaasuddin knock three past group D rivals
Inter School Football Towards Future

The Mamen U-13 Inter School Football Tournament held four of the five team group D’s matches today. The early kickoff held Hiriya against Ghaazee which was followed by Ghiyaasuddin against Billabong.

Hiriya came into the game with a win against Billabong on matchday 4 and Ghaazee came after thrashing Ahmadhiyya 7-1. A pretty dominant display in the first half saw Ghaazee score three goals. The first of those came five minutes into the game with a strike by Yoosuf Absam Mohamed Rasheed. In the 19th minute Yoosuf Absam Mohamed Rasheed scored another goal and seven minutes later completed his hat-trick. Surely one in dreams for the young lad. The second half saw a more improved Hiriya side playing against Ghaazee but wasn’t able to turn the game around in terms of goals. The match ended with the score of the first half, 3-0.

Billabong in this tournament so far has shown betterment than several past years, which saw records being broke against them in terms of goals conceded in a single game. Ghiyaasuddin on the other hand was coming into their first game. The Ghiyaasuddin side was not able to net a goal due to Billabong’s improved style of play. The first half ended without any goals.

The second half however brought more into show as Ghiyaasuddin started the half dominantly, scoring a minute into the half courtesy of Ethan Ibrahim Zaki. The match was going to end with that sole goal until the 55th minute when the same player scored and got his brace. It was followed by a last minute strike from Aik Ahmed Mauroof, making it 3-0 to Ghiyaasuddin and guaranteeing 3 points for them.

These results make group D a tough group for teams to make it through from. Ghaazee on top with 6 points and +9 goal difference is followed by Ghiyaasuddin with 3 points. Hiriya fall to third as their goal difference is less compared to that of Ghiyaasuddin, despite being on level with points. Billabong and Ahmadhiyya follow those teams with no wins and a -6 goal difference.
