Inter School: Kalaafaanu wins second game in a row while Imaduddin and Rehendhi ends in draw

Match day 4 of group C’s games were played today which resulted in more a more heated battle for the race for quarter finals.

The early kick off featured Kalaafaanu against Huravee. Huravee came into the game knocked out of the tournament and it would be their last match of the tournament as well. They came on the back of 3 losses meanwhile Kalaafaanu came with a win against Thaajuddin after losing to Imaduddin in their opening game. Kalaafaanu started the game by letting Huravee know of their intentions as they scored six minutes into the game, courtesy of Ahmed Raaif Naseem. That was the only goal of that half despite Kalaafaanu’s dominant display. The second half began with the same intense play from Kalaafaanu as they held the ball and pressurized the Huravee defense in various ways. They found their second goal in the 44th minute, scored again by Ahmed Raaid Naseem. Six minutes later Agsan Ahmed Naseem scored the last goal which Huravee would concede in the tournament.

The game that followed was a heated affair as both teams were keen on getting a win to go forward in the tournament. Imaduddin started the game with pure dominance as they struck three minutes in, in the form of Mohamed Shaffan Abdul Muhthalib. However, Rehendhi rose back to their feet and gave a good fight after the goal. The second half began with a much more improved Rehendhi side and that saw Aayan Mohamed score the equalizer in the 45th minute. The game went on to draw after that goal.

These results mean that the race for quarter finals is to be decided on the last day of group games in group C. that day will hold Rehendhi against Kalaafaanu while Thaajuddin hosts Imaduddin. As per current standing Imaduddin is leading the group with 7 points with a spot in the quarters still not confirmed. They are followed closely by Kalaafaanu who has 6 points who are followed by Rehendhi with 5 points. In the fourth is Thaajuddin with 4 points. Rock bottom Huravee lost all games and are down and out since match day 3 of group C.

In the next fixtures of group C, both games will see the winning side go through to the quarters. However, if any games are to end in draw Rehendhi and Thaajuddin will be out of the tournament. So it’s all to play for in group C as the race for a spot in the quarters heat up.
