The under-16 National team has begun their practices ahead of upcoming tournaments.

With over 40 youngsters which include players who played in last year's under-15 national side and players who shined in this year Mamen under-15 Inter School Football Tournament 2019, pool practices are held at the Henveiru Stadium on a regular basis at night. The practices are held under direct supervision of FAM's Technical Director Ihusan Abdul Ghanee (Saanthi) and is also assisted by senior National team's assistant coach Ahmed Shakir (Shakittey).

The team is coached by A-Licensed coach Adam Haleem (Jada) who coached the under-15 national team last year. He is assisted by two coaches, Mohamed Fareed and Ibrahim Saeed.(Kaka). Fareed is a B-Licensed coach who is former player and is also Maatte Academy's development coach. Kaka on the other hand is a rising star in the local coaching space. He is a C-Licensed coach who guided VIHS to two under-18 inter school football titles and also won the FAM under-21 Youth Championship with Eagles this year.

The national team is to play a UEFA assisted tournament which is held in July this year in Maldives. After that The youth team will face gulf giants in the AFC under-16 Championship qualifications in August and will play the under-16 SAFF Championship which will be held in October this year.
