No team will replace New Radiant’s in the league: FAM President

FAM’s President has said that no team will replace suspended New Radiant’s spot in the Dhivehi Premier League.

Bassam Adheel Jaleel, the President of FAM said in tweet he posted last night that no other club would replace New Radiant’s spot in the Dhivehi Premier League. New Radiant is currently suspended for a year after issues from many players regarding their salaries not being paid surfaced.

Previously there were developments on the news regarding relegated Club Valencia taking the spot which New Radiant occupies in the league. Regardless of the rumors, last night’s tweet by Bassam confirmed no team would replace suspended New Radiant.

A total of 9 teams would be playing in the upcoming footballing season due to the suspension of the Blues. Those teams are, title holders TC Sports Club, Maziya Sports and Recreation Club, Club Eagles, United Victory, Victory Sports Club, Sh. Foakaidhoo, F. Nilandhoo and the newcomers to the league, Da Grande Sports Club. As of now, all teams except Victory SC and F. Nilandhoo has begun their practices for the upcoming season.

Contrasting to previous years, this year’s Charity Match will be played in the home and away format. First of these matches will be held on June 7th in Sh. Foakaidhoo Football Ground and will be followed by the second leg on 10th of June at Galolhu National Stadium.
