Recently, Minister of Youth and Sports, Ahmed Mahloof has tweeted that football grounds will be developed in 14 islands.

Minister has further informed that the requisition will be sent to the tender board in a near future. The considered 14 islands are Milandhoo, Maakurathu, Velidhoo, Thimarafushi, Ihavandhoo, Kudahuvadhoo, Mafushi, Kudafari, Funadhoo, Nolhivaram, Foakaidhoo, Rasdhoo and Dhiggaru.

Minister Mahloof assured that inconveniences due to shortage of playgrounds will be sorted soon. In 2017 football pitches were promised to the clubs competing in the Premier League such as Thinadhoo, Milandhoo, Maalhos and Kudahuvadhoo.
