Bhutan beats Hosts Maldives 2-1 in the opening match of the UEFA Assist International Tournament in Hithadhoo today.

Jugne Namgyel scored the opening goal of the tournament in only six minutes into the game. Bikash Pradhan doubled Bhutan's lead twenty minutes later. Bhutan ended the first half with 2-0 lead. 

Halfway through the second half Maldives captain Mohamed Khanaan Adam reduced the deficit for the hosts. 

Tomorrow Latvia will play against Saudi Arabia in the second match of the tournament. Four teams will play a round robin before the top two teams play the final match on the 29th July.
