Joint world record holder for hatticks in consecutive matches Ahmed Rizvan(Rizey) has issued a statement of apology via his Facebook.

The statement reads:

"This statement is intended as an apology for my failure to show to up for the National Team Matches after being called to attend my national duties as a player of the Maldives Senior National Team. I regret my decision and understand that my actions were unacceptable and further believe that this may have caused more confusion and mistrust, hence I apologize to my team, the Football Association of Maldives and the general public and hope that you will accept my apology and allow me the opportunity to move forward with the team and get refocused"

Rizey along with Maldives international Ali Fasir(Sentey) were fined MvR 50,000 each after refusing a national call up earlier this year. Both the player's fines were supposedly paid by Club Eagles. Rizey has been one of the biggest talents in the country. Currently Rizey along with Stjepan Lucijanic hold Guinness Book record for hattricks scored in consecutive games, scoring hattricks in five games in a row.

It remains to be seen if Maldives boss Petar Segrt will call up the talented striker, this however opens the door for Rizey, who has been in excellent form this season. Earlier This week Maldives National team committee President Ali Waheed has stressed the importance of the next two home games against Philippines and Guam to be played next month.
