Maldives will play for win according to Maldives coach Petar Segrt.

Speaking to the press yesterday, Petar Segrt said that it is not his philosophy to play for a draw and that Maldives will try to win. Segrt said that a win will put Maldives in a good position because the next game is at home to Guam. "China, Syria, Philippines. They are very strong opponents, I hope everybody understands that we cannot put everything in one game. We will try to make a good game" Segrt said.

Taking the pressure on himself, Segrt also praised the young players specially under 19 captain Hassan Nazeem Gassim(Choatu) calling him as important as Ali Ashfaq(Dhagandey) and Akram Abdul Ghani(Akram). Segrt also named Choatu's Foakaidhoo FC team-mate Mohamed Jailam(Oggy) and Green Streets Abdulla Yameen(Yaanu). Segrt said that it doesn't matter who plays and there are very good options in attack including Ahmed Rizvan(Rizey) and Ali Fasir(Sentey).

Maldives boss also outlined the importance of strongman Ali Ashfaq. The Croatian tactician said that he helped change the generation of Maldivian players in the SAFF Suzuki Cup triumph. Segrt also defended the decision to include Ibrahim Waheed(Ibbe) saying that he will never let Ibbe down. "For me Ibbe is one of the reasons for winning the SAFF Suzuki Cup" Segrt said. Segrt also explained that though Ibbe may not be 200 percent fit, he looked good in training and that Ibbe needs the push to help him through.
