Maziya seek fans help to overcome Abahani
Marjan sekulovski has urged Maldivian fans to back Maziya during tomorrow’s game against Dhaka Abahani. Speaking at the Press ahead of the game Marjan said that he was fearful that a large number of Bangladeshi expatriate workers could come to the stadium to back the Bangladeshi capital club.
Marjan said that he does not want to go into the stadium and see thousands of Abahani fans in the stadium and a few hundred Maldivian fans. “I believe Maziya needs the supports of local fans, the players deserve it too, I am sure the local footballing community will back us” said Marjan.
Speaking regarding the result of the away leg Marjan said that his side gave away two goals to Abahani. Marjan said his focus is winning the game rather than settling for a draw.
Marjan who had previous faced Abahani twice in the 2017 AFC Cup group stage defeated the six time Bangladeshi champions by 2-0 in both matches. Coming into the away leg Abahani manager Mario Lemos said his biggest concern was Maziya’s attacking threats.
However, the Portuguese Manager refused to rule out his sides chances saying the Sky Blue Brigades had every chance of making it through to the final Playoff despite having given Maziya two away goals.
But the Portuguese realizes the huge task he is up against. With two away goals for Maziya and the fact that Abahani have never won in Male’ adds to the more pressure for Mario Lemos.
