FA and AFA reach partnership to promote youth development in Huraa

Football Association of Maldives and AFA of K.Huraa has reached an agreement to join youth level football in the island under the initiative of FA president Bassam Adeel Jaleel who has under taken the project 'Towards Future' to develop youth football in the country. 

Huraa was a household name in the Maldivian footballing scene from 1996 till relegation in 2006. At the peak of their dominance Hurriya produced some fine talents and competed against the biggest clubs of the time. Back to back POMIS Cup wins in 1999 and 2000 was followed by Hurriyya's finest moment in their history as they were crowned champions of the 2005 Dhivehi league. 

Natives of Huraa can once again hope to see many local talents reaching the top of Maldivian footballing with the new opportunity. The likes of Masoom Abdul Gafoor, Ali Shiham and goalkeeping hero Ishaq Easa are some of the few stars from Huraa.
