Jazeera Championship delayed
Minivan Championship

The newly re branded Jazeera Championship has been delayed due to the outbreak of Covid-19 in Maldives. Currently Maldives has six active cases and a number of resorts are under lock down.

The Jazeera Championship former know as Minivan Championship is a tournament specially opened for Island teams with the top four side featuring in the Dhivehi premier league. A press release by FA Maldives to confirm that the competition has been delayed until future notice.

The delay in the competition is likely to be followed by delays to the FA Cup and other tournaments organized by FA Maldives. Last season was a headache for clubs and players after a catastrophic scheduling of the football calendar.

Recently FA held talks with some coaches to try and navigate an easier football calendar. With two Maldivian sides featuring in the AFC Cup FA Maldives will have a difficult time resolving all the issue once the health safety levels drop back to normal.
