Coronavirus - FIFA pledges USD 10 million in fight against virus

World governing footballing body FIFA has pledged to donate 10 million USD to World Health Organization's Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino said, 'thanks to our solid financial situation, FIFA is in a position to propose proactive solidarity measures specifically targeting the coronavirus disease crisis'.

Furthermore, FIFA has welcomed the decision by UEFA and CONMEBOL to postpone the Euro 2020 and Copa America 2020 by one year. FIFA is now also considering to bring changes to the club world cup and FIFA confederation cup if required to do so.

Infantino added that FIFA is working along with clubs and associations to find a solution to contracts of players and that FIFA would change current laws and regulation in order to protect the players. He also added that FIFA will be holding face to face discussion with relevant authorities to find solutions.

'FIFA will keep in regular contact with all members of the football community during this difficult period. As I stated yesterday, challenging circumstances offer the opportunity for people to come together, show what they can do in a collective spirit, and emerge stronger and better prepared for the future. And this is what FIFA is aiming to do here'. said Infantino.
