U18 SAFF Championship new fixtures finalized!

South Asian Football Federation has finalized the fixtures for this year’s U18 SAFF Championship.

This is the second SAFF Under 18 tournament. Unlike previous times, this version will be played as a championship, as one round league format. SAFF decided to change the format after Sri Lanka withdrew from the championship.

Besides Sri Lanka, Pakistan also did not participate in this tournament.

Tournament will be hosted by Bhutan. All the matches will be played at Chalimithang Stadium in Thimpu city of Bhutan. Two matches will be played everyday. One in the evening and one at night.

In the opening match of the Championship, Bangladesh will meet India on 18th September. Indian juniors, under 16 team has already made their mark in Nepal by winning U16 SAFF Championship 2017.

Maldives first match will be against the hosts, Bhutan on 18th September. After Bhutan, in the second match, Maldives will play against Bangladesh on 20th September. Third match will be against Nepal, on 22nd September. And the toughest match for Maldives will be against regions giants India, on 25th September, which will be the last match of the championship.

The team with the most number of points will be crowned as the Champions of U18 SAFF Championship 2017, followed by the Runner-Up and 3rd Placer.
