ASSAKO KNEE SURGERY SUCCESFUL

Yesterday Maziya’s Captain and Maldives national team player Asadhulla Abdulla has undergone a  knee surgery. This was due to the injury he sustained on 19th August during a match against Milandhoo. Initially he was expected to be back on the pitch in 3 weeks. Unfortunately medical tests done in India revealed that he will need to undergo a surgery. After further test in Sri Lanka, Asadhulla has undergone a successful surgery and will be fit to play in 2 months. This means he will no longer play this season.

Assako is a very vital player for both Maldives and Maziya. The 26 year old forward has scored 105 goals for Maziya since he joined in 2012. His debut for Maldives was in Nehru Cup the same year. Maldives will have to play the AFC Asian Cup qualifying match against Oman and Bhutan without Asadhulla. He will also miss the DPL and FA cup this season including President’s Cup if Maziya qualify.

Asadhulla was one of the contenders for the Best Player last season. Due to this injury it is more likely that he will not compete for the award this year. Maziya's coach said that in Asadhulla's absence they have to work twice harder to win the league.
