Football Association of Maldives’s 3^rd Division 2017 football tournament has been kicked off.

In the tournament opener, two teams from group 1, Club Amigos and Dhivehi Sifainge Club met and Dhivehi Sifainge Club made their first step in to the tournament with a big 0-6 win. Dhivehi Sifainge Club (D.S.C) scored double before the interval. Later, during the second part of the match, they managed to score four goals and made an easy win by 0-6.

In the second match, group 2 two teams, C.B.L Sports and Bench Sports Club played and Bench won the match by a narrow margin, 1-2. It was Bench Sports Club, who took the lead in the first half  from an early goal by Zayan Naseer in the 4^th minute. But it did not take much time for C.B.L Sports to level the game as they scored and equalized the game from goal by Hussain Fauzan in the 9^th minute mark.

Somehow during the second half an average performances were displayed from both side. Bench Sports Club scored their second and the match winner in the 76^th minute. Goal came from Ibrahim Imad. Match ended on favor fro Bench Sports by 1-2.

Tournament matches being played in the FAM Turf 1 ground. This year’s tournament kicked off with total 39 teams, which were divided in to 10 groups. As a tournament format, there will be first the group stage round from which the top two teams from each group will forward to next round, which will be a knock out stage round.
