FAM has decided not to renew the contract of National Team's coach, Darren Stewart's contract which is due February 2018. Until February there is no more official match for NT and also there is no friendly match scheduled. He was appointed as Maldivian coach in July 2016.

More to this, National Team's assistant coach Ismail Mahfooz has also left the team and joined his former club Maziya as head coach. So FAM will need to decide the next coach and assistant coach of National Team soon. FAM informs that already National Team's Committee is working on who to fill the position if former assistant coach Imma.

The next official match for NT is against Bhutan in AFC Asian Cup Qualifying. That match will be in March 2018 and since Maldives is already eliminated there is not much importance of this match.
