The Football Association of Maldives has recently announced that the Minivan Championship of 2018 have been scheduled to start on 27^th February 2018.

Minivan Championship is a tournament organized by FAM to develop football in every area of the country. There are three rounds in this tournament. The first round is played between islands of the same atoll in home and away format. Top two teams from the first round of every atoll advance to the next round, where islands from the same zone have to compete in an identical format to advance to the final rounds.

Top four teams from the final round got promoted to the Premier League this year. The four Zone Championship and the four from last year will compete for the four slots from the Atolls that would compete in the Premier League. The exact format for this is not clear yet.
