FAM TO INTRODUCE A SPECIAL SYSTEM FOR PLAYER REGISTRATION
The Football Association of Maldives has announced that they have begun the process of making a special system for player registration with the help of FIFA.
FAM has stated that they have been registering players manually till last year and is looking to register players for this season through this new system. FAM believes that this system will reduce player transfer conflicts and will help to follow the rules more professionally.
Last year, the case of Mohamed Nizam playing for 3 clubs in the same year became a big deal after TC had filed it to FAM. Nizam was in Club Valencia’s squad in the beginning of last season, later he played 2nd Division for BG Sports and soon after, he played for Milandhoo in the Premier League. TC had filed that Nizam was playing in the premier league illegally and after discussion, FAM stated that they would not allow players to illegally play in that time period.
FAM is hoping that the new system will eliminate or reduce such problems and will aid the association to conduct tournaments smoothly this year and in future.
