Recently speaking his excellency, president of Maldives, Honorable Abulla Yameen Abdull Gayoom has assured that there will be a brand new football stadium built in Hulhumale this year.

Sports and recreation as government’s one of the most developing area in the nation, government has already built many sports venues all over the country.

The brand new stadium to be built in Hulhumale, will be located in Hulhumale phase two. And the stadium will be up to FIFA standards where international events can be held.

The talks of this new stadium firstly surfaced back in 2015 and back then it was believed that the works of the new stadium will be done in 2016. However due to some reasons it was held back and until 2018 the news of the new stadium in Hulhumale was not brought up.

At first, the World class football stadium was talked to be built all over on the aid of government of Qatar. But due to political matters between two nations, it is now unsure that the expenses to the stadium is upon on own local government or on a foreign aid.
