Football Association of Maldives’s new mini turf pitch’s works are almost complete and it is believed that the ground will be officially handover to FA during next month by the contractor.

The new mini turf pitch project is Asian Football Confederation’s president’s initiate with the purpose of strengthening and developing football in AFC’s membership countries.

The project was officially inaugurated and tasked to Limonta Sports, contractor, back in 2017 November by the president of Football Association of Maldives, Mr.Bassam Adheel Jaleel. And all the works of the projected was to be complete within one month period and to be finished in 2017 December. The new mini pitch is located just behind the tennis court.

However the work completing day has being pulled due to some reason till March 2018.

It is believed that the new mini pitch is targeted for developing  grassroots football in the country, more over in the capital city, Male’. As the design of the mini pitch shows, the whole pitch is outlined in a ways that the pitch can be divided in to three mini pitches horizontally and vertically as a full pitch. Back then speaking to media general secretary to FA, Hussain Javaaz said that with this new project it will be huge support to the youth development academies based in the city.

“This new pitch is totally designed for youth developmeht sides. When the pitch work is done, it will be a huge support to the football academies right now based in Male’.” GS Javaa said.

As Football Association of Maldives very much focusing on the development of early age, with this newly added pitch to FA grounds, it is big step towards the future.

Now the turf has being laid on the ground and grounds man had already drawn the outlines of the pitches and the water drainage system also has being installed. But the outer boundary fence yet to be installed.
