Ishaaq Ibrahim known as Isse is a well known player in Gaafu Alif atoll. He is specially known for his leadership skills and calmness as a centre back. He has helped his island, GA Nilandhoo to win atoll round of Minivan Championship in 2017. This year, The Nilandhoo strongman  joined Kondey and has already helped them conquer the atoll round of Minivan Championship this year. We are delighted to share his views about his achievements and his goals in future.

BoalhaMV: Isse. You have won 2 minivan championship atoll rounds with two different teams. How do you feel?

Isse: I am glad to be a part of the winning team. I feel really happy to lift the shield for the second time.

 

BoalhaMV: Why was your home club Nilandhoo able to beat your current club kondey last year. What was your secret?

Isse: it’s not much of a secret, last year we had a good squad. And we had a big home advantage in the first match.

 

BoalhaMV: Besides Nilandhoo and Kondey where else have you played football in?

Isse: I played only for nilandhoo and kondey.

BoalhaMV: What are your short term goals in football and any long term goals?

Isse: My short term goal is to win the upcoming zone championship for kondey and my long term goal is to play in premier league.

 

BoalhaMV: Any preffered player/coach you like to work with and why?

Isse: Ali Nishthaar (Coach), because he was the person who taught me how to play football. He trained me to become the player I am today.

 

BoalhaMV: We hear you were also in the Kondey team of 2015. What do you think of that squad?

Isse: That year kondey had an excellent squad but we lost a away game and got knocked out by dhevadhoo.

 

BoalhaMV: If a time comes where you can stay in this atoll (get paid similar to male league) and still play in the premier league, will you be willing to play a nine month season?

Isse: Of course. Football is not just a hobby for me, Its my passion now.

BoalhaMV: Do you miss being a captain?

Isse: I do miss being a captain. I want to wear captain’s armband and lead my team to victory.

 

BoalhaMV: If you were given a chance to be an actor, which Maldivian actress would you choose to be your co-star in a movie?

Isse: Fathimath  Azifa, My favorite actress
