UNDER 16 INTER SCHOOL: CHAMPION MAJEEDHIYYA SCHOOL OUT, GURAIDHOO SCHOOL TO SEMIFINALS!

In the ongoing Milo Inter School Football Tournament 2018, in under 16, K.Guraidhoo School has entered the semifinals.

The visiting side, K.Guraidhoo School made their way to semifinals after making a deserving victory over last year champions, Majeedhiyya School.

In the last quarter final match, from the beginning of the match itself it was shown as an average game. Both sides were doing their best to score and take an early lead. But that fortune was not served to any side as the game went to interval with a goal less draw.

But during the first half also Guraidhoo seems little bit better in attack. When it comes to defending, for sure, Guraidhoo was holding to utmost discipline and it made hard for Majeedhiyya reds to open the goal.

Somehow during the first also Majeedhiyya was able to play balls into Guraidhoo box but Guraidhoo defenders were careful, cautious and have to say well organize to deal with those situations.

Two minutes into the second half, the work of Guraidhoo paid off as they scored the only goal at the 42nd minute and lead the game by 1-0.

The match ended with the same 1-0 score and surprisingly last year’s age group champion Majeedhiya was out of the tournament. And well deserved victory over the champion reds gave the semifinals ticket to Guraidhoo School.

Majeedhiya played the match with their one of the best player out, due to double yellow card suspension. If compare to both side squad, on individual talent, Majeedhiya would win it regarding to individual players. But on the pitch the results are delivered upon the effort and work made for it. And that is where Guraidhoo was better than Majeedhiyya. Guraidhoo boys played the match with such an attitude of self-belief and confidence. Majeedhiyya had three u-16 national team players on their squad and two of them were playing on the pitch and one was force to sit back due to card suspension. But even those two junior national team players also were not finding easy to play against to a side like Guraidhoo, who was on top of discipline and sticking to their game plan.

On the other hand, keep an eye on the performance so far in the tournament by Guraidhoo School, reaching to semifianls is not a surprise as they came to quarter finals as the second best of the group. And won huge against the strong Dharumavantha School in the group stage. So far in this year’s tournament, the atoll side team, the visitors, Guraidhoo has defeated biggest two school in the tournament. And they defeated Majeedhiyya, the current champions of age group as they walk into semifianls. What a huge victory. A well-deserved victory. Such an amazing journey of Guraidhoo School.
