Coach Ihusaan Abdul Ghani answering a question in the pre-match press conference has called the 15th of February a dark day in Maldivian Football.

On the 15th of February Victory Sports Club sacked coach Shazly Mohamed and appointed coach Ali Suzain as their Head coach in a press conference. Coach Ihusaan (Saanthi) has said he wouldn't have taken over like this however big the offer maybe. Saanthi has also praised Shazly's credentials.

Shazly has The Continental Pro-License, the only Maldivian who has completed the top football License.

On the 15th of February Victory beat coach Saanthi's Eagles by 2-1. Coach Ali Suzain took over officially after the game. Shazly's assistant Ali Nisthar took charge during the game. He has since resigned as the assistant coach saying he is unhappy at treatment of former boss.

It is still unclear what exactly led to the dismissal of Coach Shazly. Usually a coach is sacked due to poor performance or lack of discipline. It is very odd for a head coach to be sacked before the season starts.
