Just a few days away from the season opener, we take a look at the Teams and how we think they will do in the league.

Eagles:

Having signed key players such as Baka no doubt would strengthen an already solid Eagles side. Coach Ihusaan’s (Saanthi) era at Eagles ended last year and only time will tell if Saanthi’s blend of youngsters fit the style Coach Shiyaz (Mohan) will bring to Eagles. With most of the squad intact, we expect Eagles to come back stronger this year and do just enough to qualify to the Premier League

Our prediction- 4^th place

Players to watch: Ahmed Rizvan (Rizey), Luis Eduardo

Green Streets:

Green Streets has had an excellent first season in top flight last year. Again former coach Sobah is out. The more experienced coach Suzain is in. They have brought in key player Ilia Sobol. We believe that though Green Streets give a good fight, they will miss out on reaching the Premier League, and just about.

Our Prediction: 5^th place

Players to watch: Ibrahim Rizhan (Rizko), Mohamed Rishwan(Fukey)

Maziya:

Another team with a new coach, Mahfooz(Imma) has returned to Maziya and things look peachy. Having signed the hot prospect of Maldivian football, Hassan Naiz(Dhaadhu) we believe will make the difference for Maziya. Maziya is expected to welcome back their captain Asadulla Abdulla to give a good fight.

Our Prediction: 2^nd place

Key Players: Hassan Naiz(Dhaadhu), Ismail Easa(Messi)

New Radiant:

No doubt New Radiant is the King of Maldivian football these days. After a poor season in 2016, New Radiant reached the heights of their former glory. Having signed Umair and a host of youngsters. Key would still be Ali Ashfaq(Dhagey) though. Having won the league with New Radiant Previously, and then moving on abroad and bringing glory there. On his return he won the league with Maziya. New Radiant has best in every department. We see them flying even higher this season

Our prediction: Champions

Key Players: Ali Ashfaq(Dhagey), Imran Mohamed(Imma)

TC Sports:

TC Sports has been one of the surprise packs in almost every tournament. Known to finish second in almost all the tournament since coming to the top flight. We believe this year with the resurgence of New Radiant, they might just miss out on their infamous number two spot.

Our Prediction: 3^rd

Key Players: Anatoliy Vlasichev, Ibrahim Mahudhee

United Victory:

United Victory could be in for a surprise. We believe United Victory will use this year as an experience for the next season to build up on. With Coach Nazeeh returning to the club and retaining most of their players, United Victory’s performance will depend on the quality of their foreign legions.

Our prediction: 8^th

Key Players: Kordell Samuel

Valencia

Having secured the signing of young coach Sobah and a host of young players. Valencia has a nice blend of experienced and young players. Again a lot will depend on their foreign players. We believe it might take time for this great club.

Our Prediction: 7^th

Key Players: Valery Richin, Surge Driger

Victory:

Having just missed out on the Premier League last season, Victory has spent heavily this season. They have recruited last Premier League’s second top scorer Angel Carrescosa Munoz. Having retained most of their youngsters Victory looks solid. With coach Laszlo Kiss returning after a season’s absence Victory could be a surprise this year.

Our Prediction: 6^th

Key Players: Angel Carrescosa Munoz, Ahmed Rasheed (Ammadey)
