AFC women's "C" certificate coaching course has begun in Male

The Football Association of Maldives has started AFC women's C certificate coaching course today (20 June 2018).

The course is scheduled to be held from 20th June to 3rd July in Male. This is the first time that an AFC women's C certificate coaching course is held in Maldives where 20 participants have applied to grab the certificate. The course will be educated by one of the most qualified coaches of Maldives and the Head of Coach Education, Mohamed Shazly and Ahmed Shareef, Head of Grass Roots Football. Vice President of FAM, Aishath Nazima was the chief guest of the opening ceremony accompanied by the General Secretary of FAM, Hussain Jawaz.

The AFC C License certificate is known as “level two Certificate” in Europe, which focuses at training coaches and developing their basic techniques and skills in football. It is designed to teach the coaches to organize, direct and conduct basic coaching practices targeting especially young players.

Mayan Mohamed, who has acquired AFC B license, is the most qualified female coach in Maldives at the moment. Maldives is in need of more qualified female coaches and this is a huge step forward by FAM to create and develop female coaches. The Maldives Women’s National team is coached by Mohamed Athif.

FAM has conducted AFC A license, B license and C license courses earlier this year to improve coaches. More coaching courses are yet to be held this year as FAM’s aim is to improve coaches to develop football in Maldives.
