Defending champions, New Radiant Sports Club went up against the champions of Minivan Championship 2018 in the opening match of Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League 2018 and won easily by 10-0.

Rilwan Waheedh (Riley) tool the lead for the champions in the 13th minute which after Adetunji Laurance made a mistake. Three minutes after the first goal, blues captain Ali Fair (Sentey) doubled the lead which was followed by Akram Abdul Ghani's goal and the blues had taken the game to their hand. New Radiant didn't give any space for the Thimarafushi players to take a breath and scored their fourth goal in the 32nd minute. Hamza Mohamed (Hampu) took the advantage of a mistake by Thimarafushi defenders and scored his first of the night. Six minutes later, Sentey scored his second of the night which was the score at half time.

Within the first ten minutes of the second half, Sentey created a chance which was scored by Hampu and was followed by Sentey's hat trick in the 65th minute. Ten miutes later Hampu scored the eight goal of the night and completed his hat trick. Substitue Ibrahim Atheeg (Ibbe) scored the ninth goal for the blues while their tenth goal was scored by Hassan Adhuham (Sadey).

New Radiant had started their campaign in style and showed no sympathy for the opponent. Thimarafushi had a terrible start and will have to work very hard to cover up the loss against the mighty blues in the following games.
