Maldives wins their first friendly match.

The Maldives national team have won the friendly match against Qatar last night, which was a preparing match for the upcoming SAFF championship 2018. Maldives have won the match against Qatar’s second tier club, Al-Markhiya Sports Club with a lead of 3 – 4. During the first half Maldives scored 3 goals, which was by Hamza Mohamed, Mohamed Arif (Baka) and Hassan Naaiz (Dhaadhu).

The 4th goal of Maldives was scored by Hassan Naaiz (Dhaadhu) in the 58th minute of the second half. Which was also his second goal in the match.

Maldives national team is currently camping in Qatar to further develope their performance for the SAFF championship which is going to start on September 15th in Bangladesh.

FAM had also declared that they are looking forward to play a friendly match against Pakistan’s national team. National teams from 7 countries will be playing for the SAFF championship this year. The teams have been divided into two groups, Maldives along with India and Sri Lanka is in group B, while Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Pakistan are in group A. The most victorious team throughout the SAFF championship, India have won the trophy for seven times in the SAFF championship history.
