The stand in captain, Ali Arif (Baka) said that he is very hopeful of the upcoming SAFF Championships.

“We will get results in the SAFF Championships that will satisfy the whole nation” Baka said, talking to the press after the win over Qatar’s Al-Markhiya Sports Club. Baka also said that the trainings are very well organized and that National team has not been this organized before.

In the match against Al-Markhiya, Maldives played a very positive game attacking high up, score most goals from pressing the opponent in their own half. Two goals by Hassan Naiz(Dhaadhu) and a goal each by Ali Arif(Baka) and Hamza Mohamed(Hampu) gave Maldives an impressive victory over Qatar’s al-Markhiya.

Maldives National team are in Qatar on camp, getting ready for SAFF Championships. Maldives first game is against Sri Lanka on the 7^th of September. Two days later Maldives will play India. Two teams from the three team group B will qualify to the semi-final.
