The Pre SAFF Suzuki Cup friendly match scheduled between Maldives and Pakistan has been cancelled.

According to our sources it is due to some issues by the Pakistani National team who have not traveled to Qatar. They will not be travelling to Qatar instead will head to Bangladesh in time for their match on the 4th of September. In the recent Asian Games held in Indonesia, Pakistan was one of the surprise teams in the shock win over Nepal in a game that they dominated. Nepal will have the chance for revenge in the group stages of SAFF Suzuki Cup when they meet Pakistan on the opening day. Pakistan will battle Nepal, Bhutan, and the hosts Bangladesh in the group A of the SAFF Suzuki cup 2018.

Maldives will travel to Bangladesh directly from Qatar. Maldives has been camping since early August. Maldives opted not to participate in the Asian Games due to the SAFF Cup. Since the long training camp, Maldives managed to play one friendly match. A 4-3 win over the second tier Al Markhiya Sports in Qatar. Maldives is all set to take on Sri Lanka on the 7th before facing the power house of the region India on the 9th September. India has opted to send a squad based on lot of young players, the team for the future for experience.
