OPINIONS: Stop whining and get behind the team!
Maldives

We really should stop whining and get behind the team.

Yes Maldives went through only on a toss of a coin. Yes we have left Ashfaq(Dhagandey) behind. But will all the whining make things any different?

Maldives football needs the supporters more than ever. I know most of the people don't like the coach(Petar Segrt), But his record isn't bad. Let us trust him. wait and see what happens till the end of the tournament and then decide. Sometimes teams start out slow. I have no doubt that one win against Nepal is all that we need. When we get that one win, we will be confident and ready for the final match.

"If you can't support Maldives when they are lose, don't support when they win!" I believe in this saying. Lately all BoalhaMV and some media do is pick on the coach. Let him do his job. Lets wait till the 15th of September to judge him.

I see a lot of positives in this tournament. Coach (Segrt) is a disciplinarian. He has disciplined Maldives squad. He has discovered new players like Bobby (Riham Abdul Ghani) and Yaameen. These are young players who will star for Maldives in the future.

Even if we do not like the coach, we should be patient for the sake of the players, for the sake of the whole nation. Yesterday we saw the boys give their all for the nation. They only played a match two days previously. Tiredness took a toll on Maldives players. India was more relaxed after their break. Remember if Akram Abdul Ghani's chip shot from far almost found it's way into the goal. If that went in, We would have beaten India.

Previously some OPINIONS said that Sri Lankan deserved it more than we do. I do not believe this kind of thing. We are here because we deserve it. I believe that there is a reason for everything and maybe, just maybe this is our year!

I just want to wish coach Petar Segrt and the beloved football players of Maldives all the best. Bring the glory back to Maldives football. WE DESERVE IT
